That I am a retired award-winning underwater photographer that incorporated machine embroidery and many other sewing skills when creating the design & costuming for my models/clients to execute an underwater shoot.
I would spend hours, sometimes weeks in post-production editing each image. Not many people were doing underwater photography at that time so all my skills behind the camera and in post-production right through to taking the final print off the printer were self-taught.
In 2017 I retired from the world of underwater photography and decided to turn my artistic bent to machine embroidery and Magpie Embroidery Designs was born. At that time my embroidery machine of choice was a single needle but I soon outgrew that and purchased a 16 needle Melco EMT commercial head in 2018. I tend to “go big or go home” and since I’m already home…you guessed it. I jumped in the deep end as it were.
Ultimately my intention was to learn how to digitize my own embroidery designs to offer my clients something unique that expresses their vision and personality. So in late 2020 I dove into the world of embroidery digitizing, using Wilcom Embroidery Studio e4.5 software on another roller coaster ride of self-learning.
From photography to embroidery my passion has always been to provide my clients with creative, artistic results that speak to their hearts, achieved through our combined imaginations.
Magpie Embroidery Designs offers unique one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces, ready to purchase embroidered articles, custom digitizing for others in the embroidery industry, along with a library of ready to purchase embroidery files to embroider on your own projects.
Commissions for anything embroidery related are always welcome.

Yes, my fascination for the art and science of machine embroidery digitizing was actually born in the depths of a warm primordial, well, backyard swimming pool. Better explain that one a bit!
